Blogging play date

My neighbor and I stole two hours on the 29th.

We grabbed our laptops and some Von's free wifi.
Plus the starBucks Chi Tea Lattes and the danish.
It was so nice.  I felt like a adult.  We have another date next week.
I hope we can do this every week up to the week I leave for Okinawa.
Which is in a few weeks.

writing assignment: writing and the late show

Writing assignments from Mama's losin it  Writer's Workshop .
The prompts I write about are (3/5):

1.) Write from the point of view of a glass at the edge of the table.
3.) Why do you write?
5.) You've been hired as a writer for "Late Show with David Letterman." Your first assignment is to come up with a witty, nonpolitical Top Ten list for him to read on air.

Water
She lived alone.  Back then, there was not a lot of us around.  Many were only for special occasions.  Me, I was special.  One of her first.  I was her go to one.   Then one morning she shared me with Paul.   When she moved in with him she took me with her.  Now, I sit  here on the edge waiting for her to come and save me from the small hands of  Little Paul.  I know why the baby wants me.  The water I hold must look so pretty with the sunlight shining through my side.  Like jewels.  Like shattered glass.  Oh well I am just half full anyway.

Why I write:
When I read I am there.  I really get into a story.  I want to do that for so, no one else.  I write to express the pictures in my mind.  To communicate ideas in my voice. Right now my voice is a bit scratchy and bit dull.  I am working on it.

Top ten thing that happen with children and peanut-butter :
10. VCR met it's end
9. When used on a bird feeder children wan to test
8. The sofa cushions  have a roasted sent ( don't turn one over)
7. Ants on a log are now on the stairs and in the carpet
6. Gram Crackers are now stuck to inside of the windows of my car
4.  Substituted for glue on any surface
3.  My shoes stay on better now
2.  Some how the empty jar is always back in the pantry

1. The dog is still trying to lick the roof of it's mouth

Well I tried.  It's late and just wanted to post something.  If I took more time I believe I would have done better,  Next time.

good for you too

I am trying to eat better. This means less sugar and more vegetables.  My other neighbor H. has this chili recipe that is hearty and good for you too.  She says something about 1 point, but I don't know what that is all about:

This is what I made:
Ingredients
1 lb of turkey sausage (Hot - which is not very hot)
1 large onion
2 stalks of celery
1 each yellow/green bell pepper
1 package vegetarian chili seasoning
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2 can broth

1 can corn
1 can Black Beans (rinsed)
2 med white squash (chopped)
2 med zucchini (chopped)
Instructions
Brown ground turkey and drain. Cook onion. Add the rest of the ingredients. Cook over medium heat...Add back sausage. Tehn let simmer for 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

writing assignment: I got the nickname

This weeks mamakatslosinit writing assignment is

Start your story with, "This may come as a surprise, but ... " and end it with, "And that's how I got the nickname (fill in the blank).".

"This may come as a surprise, but it's not what you think."
My co-workers Ben and Samantha looked surprised. Ben looked hopeful and Sam looked like I betrayed woman kind. My BFF Toni soon to be my dead BFF was not helping by giggling.
"What is it you think we think."
I wasn't going to give Ben the satisfaction.
"Let's get our drinks first."
Everyone but me gave the waitress their order. I whispered my order which cased a new giggle fit from Toni. I could see Sam getting more uptight by the minute. Ben's grin got bigger and bigger. Jerk. The waitress returned. Ahh a light.
"What is that?"
"This is a drink called a Flaming Blow Job."
Toni told them as my drink was placed in front of me. I Blow the flame out.
"Now what" Sam snapped.
"I don't drink so I can't swallow. And that's how I got the nickname "blows but doesn't swallow."

earnings to much for pre k

I was hopping to put my girl in pre-k once we got to Okinawa.  I was just told that based on my husband's rank our smart girl can't go.  So, I guess she will have to go to daycare.

Her birthday is in January.  For school 2009 she would have to be 5 by September 2008.

Any homeschooling moms out there...Please tell how to get my girl ready for school 2010

Let the story “do with me as it will”

One of my may hobbies is writing.

I get an idea and tell someone about it. Then they tell me how I should write a story or novel, and they want to know what happens next to my characters. mamasphere is my latest victim. I was complaining to her about my writer’s block. I told her, I can’t seem to get a first sentence down on paper.

Mind you I have most if not all the story worked out in my head. I can see the story much like some play being acted out in my mind. However, when I open my laptop I can’t fine the words to describe what I saw in my head.

I’ve have always thought it would be easy to get into writing. I dreamed of sitting and cranking out page after page.
Lately I find myself just staring at the screen.

I was wondering if I should post on a site.

fooled me

I recently found out a family member was blogging in the closet.  I have to say I was taken aback.  Then I thought about how everyone need to get away from it all in some way.  My family member really holds the family together and deserves her own time.
Deep down I am glad I found out.  I have promise not to out them.

PCS = Permanet Change of Station

While my husband was in the sands I tried to making things happen for our move to Okinawa.

There is the unflattering passport photo. I got the cleared and ready to travel over seas medically for me and the children.

For me, that meant getting shots for stuff I thought I got shots for as a child.

Schedule the transportation of personal property and personnel. 2 hour seminar with squirming baby and all.

They pack, shipping, receive and unpack service people and their families.

That was the cool part. This huge truck pulled up to my house and these four men packed all my house hold goods. Any and everything was wrapped in brown paper and tape then put in a box and that box when into a crate on the truck. Then crate was nailed shut. It took only about 7- hours .

Now we are living like swatters in our own home. Camping with running water.

Blogging soon

I apologize for taking so long. Every day I think of a million things to add to my blog, and then I put if off and never get back to it. I am working on that flaw.

Getting ready to move it a new country remember.

When we get settled the blogging will be regular.

New blog...why not

It’s not because I have tons of time to type random stuff for people. It is really just my thoughts on my life and things in it. Having a big change with a family move to Okinawa at the end of 2008. My friend at mamasphere thought it would be nice for me to blog about the move and life on the island of Okinawa, Japan. I thought why not.
